LAWAS: The Bandar Lawas new bridge project is expected to be completed by June 2025.
In a news report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan expressed his confidence in the contractor’s ability to complete the project within the timeframe.
“So far, the delay is at four per cent but we will try to catch up.
“They have sufficient assets and manpower, even more than what should be implemented,” he said when visiting the project site, recently.
According to him, the two causes of the project’s delay were the relocation of utilities and the condition of the land.
Awang Tengah added that the bridge was one of the networks to complete the north coast highway and also part of the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road Project (SSLR).
“This will further improve the efficiency and road connectivity in Lawas.
“The most important thing is to open up opportunities for us to develop and plan ways to expand Bandar Lawas,” he said.
