KUCHING: Baru Bian has lost his battle for the Lawas parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).
The Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) deputy president was defeated by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Datuk Henry Sum Agong who garnered 11,361 votes, securing the seat with a 5,677 vote majority.
Baru garnered 5,684 votes whereas Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Japar Suyut lost his deposit with only 1,163 votes.
Meanwhile, Perikatan Nasional (PN) Datuk Ali Biju retained his Saratok parliamentary seat.
He garnered a total of 19,223 votes winning a majority of 8,826 votes against his opponents GPS Giendam Jonathan Tait and Pakatan Harapan (PH) Ibil Jaya.
Giendam managed to garner 10,397 votes while Ibil lost his deposit with only 1,221 votes.
