SIBU:  Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Michael Tiang, who is also the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) youth chief, today handed over basic essential items to Deputy Director II of Sibu Hospital, Dr Rachel Teng.

The items, donated by concerned and kind members of the public, included toothbrushes, shampoos, soaps and  toothpastes. They were for individuals who were quarantined at the Covid-19 quarantine centres here.

“I believe  over the 800 individuals who are undergoing  quarantine will need these items since the government only provides food, drinks, accommodation and transportation

“On their own initiative, these members of the public have raised money to buy the essential items,” said Tiang.

He also urged parties to temporarily stop their political work by focusing on the needs of the people.

He said politics should be set aside first as Sibu was still struggling with the Covid-19 situation.
