MUKAH: Monitoring by officials has kept a tight lid on the prices and quality of goods sold by traders here.
A customer, Simah Alexander, said such inspections have led to the supply of basic necessities being sufficient, reasonably priced and easily available.
According to Simah, the supply of basic necessities such as onions, chicken, chicken eggs, rice, sugar, cooking oil and vegetables is sufficient.
Three months ago, Mukah had difficulty getting chicken eggs but today the situation has improved although occasionally customers scramble to get eggs.
Eggs are sought after by roti canai sellers, burger sellers and bakers but the prices are reasonable.
Grade AA chicken eggs are sold at RM14.50 per box, Grade A RM13.50 and grade B are sold at RM12.90 only.
