KUCHING: The Batang Saribas Bridge connecting Pusa and Beladin is almost 70 per cent complete.
Batang Lupar MP Shafizan Kepli said the Public Works Department (PWD) presented a report on the progress of works to Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas during a meeting on Jan 9.
“In a meeting with the Deputy Premier (Uggah) on Jan 9, the PWD presented a report on the progress of this bridge which is 60.93 per cent complete and is expected to be fully completed on Aug 15, 2024,” Shafizan said in a Facebook post.
He said construction works are proceeding smoothly.
“The bridge is worth RM375,500,000 and the entire cost is financed by the Sarawak government.
“Work on the bridge began on June 3, 2019 but its implementation was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“However, construction works are now back in full swing,” he said.
Shafizan added that once the bridge is completed, it will reduce the travel time and dispense with the need to use the ferry service.
