MIRI: Another case of human-wildlife conflict. A woman is said to have been attacked by a crocodile while bathing in Sungai Peking, Tinjar Bakong here today (April 2).
And the authorities wasted no time in launching a search and rescue (SAR) operation.
A spokeman for the State Fire Depatment operations centre said firemen from Lopeng station were deployed to the scene following a distress call around 12.30pm.
“According to the caller, the woman in her 30s, was said to be bathing with her child in the river.
“As her child went ashore to take a bucket, residents around the area saw the victim attacked by a crocodile,” the spokesperson said.
As at press time, rescuers were still searching for the victim.
