KUCHING: Batik Air’s inaugural daily flights between Bintulu and Kuala Lumpur which is set to commence on Nov 1 will significantly boost connectivity and travel options between the two regions.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the new route is expected to cater to business travellers, tourists, and frequent flyers, while fostering economic growth in both regions.

He said the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has approved the route, with tickets now available for eager passengers to book seats for the first flights.

“The ministry is committed to improving and continuously enhancing connectivity, aiming to better promote Sarawak’s tourism industry.

“Most importantly, we thank the airline for its active cooperation and support, which has been key in making the route a reality,” Tiong said in a Facebook statement.

Tiong, who is the Bintulu MP, noted that a meeting with Batik Air’s management on July 30 played a crucial role in realising this vision, which also included discussions about increasing flight frequency to Bintulu and exploring other potential routes, such as Johor Bahru-Bintulu.
