KUCHING: Malaysia is fighting a battle on two fronts – Covid-19 pandemic and power struggle by greedy politicians.
Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing, who pointed this out, said the Covid-19 global pandemic was a struggle between life and death, adding, that alone was enough to cripple any nation.
He said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his newly minted Perikatan Nasional (PN) government was trying its best to fight the threat of Covid-19.
“He was forced into a situation in order to stabilise the nation’s political uncertainties created by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s flip-flop decisions,” Masing said, noting that Muhyiddin was honest enough to admit that.
“So far, Muhyiddin is doing well in containing Covid-19 spread compared to our neighbouring nations.
“Muhyiddin allows medical expert advice and data to guide his decisions.”
The second front, Masing said, was caused by power greedy politicians who appeared not to know when enough was enough.
“Their aim of toppling Muhyiddin’s government is by masquerading their platform of eradicating corruption.
“This power greedy group is in no position to call the pot black. They are no angels while administering Malaysia for decades,” Masing added.
He said the alleged corrupt practices by former Umno and BN leaders would not destabilise the nation but the continuous efforts to topple Muhyiddin by unsavory political practices and horse trading would erase this government to a political abyss.
“The glorification of party hopping by those involved in the horse trading exacerbated the situation,” he added.
Hence, he advised those who were so insistent in toppling Muhyiddin’s government to cease trying.
“Let us together consolidate our resources to fight our battle against Covid19.
“If we lose this coronavirus battle, we will lose everything including our lives. The next battle is amongst us,” he said.
