LIMBANG: Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang handed over donations in the form of cash totalling RM39,000 to the fire victims of Rh Bujang Minggan, Rantau Kiran here, yesterday (Jan 25).
The Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) reported that Paulus handed over the donations to Penghulu Tan Kayan, who was one of the victims of the fire and a resident of the 39-door longhouse.
He also handed over drinking water to help meet the needs of the victims.
Meanwhile, the Social Welfare Department (JKM) also assisted the victims by handing over food baskets, hygiene kits and sleeping equipment.
The fire incident that happened early yesterday morning destroyed the longhouse and also the belongings of the occupants.
No casualties were reported in the incident and the affected victims are being housed in the church, parking spaces and the homes of their nearest relatives.
