KUCHING: Batu Kawa has great agro-tourism potential, said Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.
Besides that, Batu Kawa also has is capable of becoming a food basket for this city.
“This will complement the various infrastructural developments that are progressing in the area,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Nov 29).
Dr Sim, who is also Batu Kawa assemblyman, said among the projects being implemented are the Riverbank Park, Ang Cheng Ho Quarry Recreational Park, various eco parks, and temples.
“The unique local food and other activities such as fishing can also be used to attract tourists in Kuching.
He also attended an agricultural input programme at Batu Kawa where the Agriculture Department distributed fertilisers and pesticides for sugarcanes, pineapples, pepper and rubber.
“Thanks to Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Agriculture director Dr Alvin Chai and his team for the second batch of assistance to the farmers in Batu Kawa,” he said.
He added that the third and fourth batches of agricultural inputs will be given soon.
