Batu Kawa PPV administers 4,000 doses in past three weeks

KUCHING: The vaccination centre (PPV) at Batu Kawa Health Clinic has successfully administered 4,000 Covid-19 vaccine doses since its operation three weeks ago.

Sarawak Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said among those who received the vaccine were unsung frontline heroes such as media practitioners, rubbish collectors, undertakers besides the public.

“We noticed that some of these unsung heroes have missed out, so we want to help them to be inoculated faster as they are in the high-risk group in view of their professions.

“We want them to be vaccinated early so that when they carry out their respective roles, they are protected,” he told reporters after chairing a press conference on the Sarawak Day celebration at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here on Tuesday (July 13).

Dr Sim, who is also Sarawak Disaster Management Committee advisor, conveyed his appreciation to the volunteers for an excellent job.

“I want to congratulate the volunteers at Batu Kawa PPV, including those from Sarawak Medical Practitioners Association comprising young and senior doctors, general practitioners and specialists.

“Also many thanks to nurses from Timberland Medical Centre and Batu Kawa Health Clinic. I am very proud of them.”

He also extended his appreciation to those who work tirelessly by inoculating the public at Kozi Square PPV and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak PPV.
