KUCHING: It is the ardent hope of Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang that Sarawak will have its education and health autonomy restored.
On top of that, he said Sarawak must continue to fight to achieve one-third representation in the federal parliament.
“My hope for Sarawak, within Malaysia, is we shall achieve our one-third representation in Parliament (along with Sabah).
“It is rightfully ours and we must get this back and we must also get back our autonomy on education and health”
“That is my wish for Sarawak within Malaysia. Happy Sarawak Independence Day!”
He said this when met after attending a Sarawak Day special prayer service held at Christian Ecumenical Worship Centre (CEWC), Jalan Stampin said this last night.
Lo who is also Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman said July 22 marked the day when Sarawak was given self-government.
“This was when the British Administration handed over their Union Jack for the last time and we raised our Sarawak.
“That is why it is so important we celebrate July 22 to remember the 56 days of independence we had before we form Malaysia under the MA63 agreement,” he said.
At the same time, he also stressed that Sarawak has its privileges as enshrined under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
“We have our privileges, we are special, like it or not we are special”
