BAU: Police raided a shop in Jalan Jambusan Lama here, suspected of being a front for an illegal lottery operation.
Bau District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said in a statement yesterday that the raid codenamed Ops Dadu was carried out last Sunday around 4pm.
A suspect was arrested and the police team also seized slips of paper believed to be betting chits and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The case is being investigated under Section 4A (a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act, 1953.
If found guilty, the suspect is looking at a fine of not more than RM200,000 or not more than five years in prison.
