BAU: Firefighters here yesterday rescued a female hiker stranded on Mount Singai after she sprained her right leg.

A State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokesperson said the firefighters from Bau fire station were deployed following a report at 1.09pm about at a stranded hiker on the mountain.

The 18-year-old hiker was accompanied by a friend when she fell and sprained her leg.

Firefighters used a stretcher to bring her down from the mountain. She was treated by the Emergency Medical Rescue Services unit of the Bomba before being sent to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

The firefighters ended their rescue operation at 4.30pm.
