KUCHING: Bau received an allocation of RM450 million for the development of the district from the RM1.5 billion budget under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA).
Deputy Minister of Transport and also Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the allocation is important so that Bau can thrive and to speed up its development for the people.
“I urged all the community leaders in Bau and the state and federal agencies in the area to work together to ensure that we can realise the dream of a Greater Bau and Greater Kuching.
“We also have done research on how to spend the money, especially on projects that need funds to ensure the implementation can be done in a timely manner,” he said.
The allocation for Bau is a combination of the three state constituencies, where Tasik Biru, Opar, and Serembu each received RM150 million of the RM450 million.
At the Bau Sekalung Budi Appreciation Ceremony held at the Grand Margherita Hotel here last night (April 14), Henry also called for support from government agencies to be able to develop the Bau area within six years.
In this regard, he emphasised that local authorities need close relations and good cooperation with government agencies to implement development projects.
At the same event, he also expressed gratitude to government staff as well as community leaders who have served Bau well and congratulated them for the work they have done.
Also present were Puncak Borneo Member of Parliament Datuk Willie Mongin, Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang, Kuching Division deputy resident Cheong Yaw Liang, Bau district officer Constantine Gerald David Jonas, deputy permanent secretary of the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Anielia Siam, and Bau District Temenggong Datuk Temenggong Austin Dimin.
