BAU: The 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), which focuses on the development of infrastructure and digitalisation in rural areas, will have a positive impact on Bau’s economy and connectivity.
“Particularly in Bau District, this is a huge allocation in terms of infrastructure development, telecommunication and digital connectivity in rural areas.
“This is what we want for Sarawak and we welcome what was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob,” said Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep.
He spoke to the media after observing the vaccination programme for students at Kampung Serasot here on Wednesday (Sept 29).
He commented that the upgrade of Serikin as an international gateway would help speed up the development of Bau, with plans to make the district into Greater Bau.
“This will have a good impact on Malaysia and Indonesia. Especially in Bau, it will be more developed as many people will pass through the town.”
He hoped that more investors, local and non-local, would explore potential business opportunities in Bau, especially in the tourism industry.
Henry said he was glad the federal government included the issue of native customary rights (NCR) land.
“There is still a lot of NCR land yet to be surveyed under Section 18 (of the State Land Code) for native landowners.
“With the allocation as well, this will help speed up the process to conduct survey on NCR land and quickly hand over to the native owners for them to develop their land.”
He reiterated that these were the important things for Bau to move forward, as the district had plans to develop areas as well as its own town.
