BAU: The Bau Sports Arena located at Jalan Jambusan Bau is expected to become a centre for enthusiasts in and around the area, particularly for the youth. The arena will be equipped with various sports facilities.
The Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine and Marine) stated that the sports arena can be used for both competition and leisure purposes. This is in addition to the existing sports facilities in each village hall, the Bau Civic Centre, and the Bau Mini Stadium.
Henry mentioned that besides serving as a platform for sports development and producing more sports athletes in Bau, this facility is also crucial for the local community’s economic and social development.
“There are various reasons why sports activities are carried out. One of them is for competition and leisure, which can have a positive impact on the economic and social development of the local community,” he said during the recent groundbreaking ceremony of the arena.
Henry further emphasized that the construction of the arena is important for promoting a healthy lifestyle and fostering unity within the local community, regardless of race, religion, and culture.
He also mentioned that the Skiat Community Center will be built near the arena. This centre is expected to have a positive influence on the economic and social development of the surrounding community and local entrepreneurs.
Also in attendance was the Bau District Officer, Constantine Gerald David Jonas.
