SIBU: Residents in the Bawang Assan constituency will enjoy more provisions from the government.
Bawang Assan assemblyman, Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh said he is currently in the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government and has the right to enjoy all privileges as a government representative.
“An allocation of RM2 million in Minor Rural Project (MRP), RM5 million Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), and RM1 million Sarawak Poor Housing Improvement Programme (PPRMS) for a total of RM8 million.
“But for this year, I will try to get as much as I can because it’s almost the end of the government’s financial year.
“However, from next year 2025, I will be entitled to obtain the full amount of RM8 million and I will use this amount to help you all as much as possible,” he said when speaking at the presentation of MRP funds amounting to RM635,000 to 64 longhouses in Bawang Assan constituency, held here on Saturday.
Wong, who is also the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) senior vice president, said 64 longhouses in the Bawang Assan constituency will enjoy street lights facility.
“As we all know the street lights are very important for our longhouses. Therefore, the first batch of MRP grants is for street light installation.
“A contractor has been appointed to do this work at the cheapest price for all of us.
“More MRP grants for you will come by 2025 that can be used for other purposes,” Wong added.
