BINTULU: The high commitment of frontliners in the face of the Covid-19 epidemic has touched the hearts of many and received attention from all Malaysians.

For that, the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) had contributed by purchasing necessities such as canopies, chairs and other materials for Bintulu Division Health Office Recreation Club.

At a simple ceremony a cheque for RM20,000 was handed over by BDA deputy chairman Haidar Khan Asghar Khan to the club advisor and Bintulu Division Health Officer Dr Melvin Chung Hsien Liang.

Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip and BDA general manager, Muhamad Yakup Kari were present to witness the handover at Bintulu Health Clinic.

In his brief speech, Dr Melvin expressed his appreciation to BDA for the donations which he described as providing comfort to customers of the Bintulu Health Clinic while receiving health services.

“BDA’s concern shows how they adhere to the slogan ‘Together We Make Bintulu Better’,” he said.

He said the contribution would help ensure the smooth management, and operation of the clinic amid the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This is because the number of existing tents was still insufficient to accommodate the number of patients seeking treatment or for Covid-19 screening,” he said.

He added that the Bintulu Health Clinic had to borrow tents from the Bintulu Resident Office, Public Works Department (JKR) and BDA.
