KUCHING: Sarawakians are being urged to remain vigilant as COVID-19 cases continue to surge.
In a video message posted on his Facebook page today, Deputy Premier Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said the need for people to take the COVID-19 booster shots, particularly vulnerable groups such as the elderly and those with comorbidity conditions.
“We have to protect ourselves, especially the vulnerable groups, including the elderly and the young, as well as those with comorbidity conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol,” Dr. Sim said.
He also advised people to practice good hygiene habits, such as sanitising hands and wearing face masks in crowded places, especially with the festive season approaching soon.
Additionally, he recommended completing the four doses of the COVID-19 vaccination at the nearest clinic to stay protected.
“In countries such as Australia and Canada, even the elderly have taken the fifth COVID-19 shot,” he noted.
