KUCHING: Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen has called on the younger generation to be more concerned about the country’s political development.

He pointed out that this was even more important now that the younger generation would get to vote, thanks to Undi18.

“High cost of living and inflation these days are related to politics, which is why I am calling the younger generation, especially the ones here today, to learn and know more about politics even if you might not want to be involved in politics.

Chong delivering his speech during the Outstanding SPM Achievement Awards at the Sarawak DAP headquarters.

“I am not here to tell you who to vote and how to vote but I am telling the younger generation that when you cast your vote, you must vote wisely and make your own judgement by reading and gathering the information from reliable sources because you have the right to determine the country’s future.

“This is what you call mature electorate and with it, the country will progress well in the future and provide a better environment to you for your studies, your work life, and also the future generation,” he said at the Outstanding SPM Achievement Awards here on Thursday (July 7).
