KUCHING: The people should be thankful and appreciative to the state government’s gesture in providing food aid during this difficult time of Covid-19 pandemic.
The food basket would certainly help to tide them over their financial difficulties, especially those from the hardcore poor households, said Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep.
He thanked the state government, particularly the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, for the noble initiative, adding: “We’re fortunate to have a caring state government and chief minister under the GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) leadership.”
Harry said in Bau district alone a total of 6,700 household heads (KIR) are eligible to receive the food baskets under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance 6.0 (BKSS 6.0) initiative.
The food baskets are to be distributed in two phases with priority given to destitute households, he said in an interview with WaiFM programme producer Martina Naun.
He said the food baskets are actually meant for those households categorised under B40.
However, depending on current financial situation of the respective households, he said considerations might be given to those above the B40.
“It will depend on case to case basis. The households may not have been categorised under B40 but if their situation warrants the assistance then they can always appeal to the district office for considerations,” he added.
