KUCHING: Siblings Ensan Marklynn, 33, and Ensay Marklady, 27, have regular 9 to 5 office jobs.
After 5 pm, they become beauticians – not only because of their interest in the beauty industry but also to earn extra money.
The two sisters have, in fact, been running their own beauty business for the past three years.
“The beauty business requires a fair bit of capital to start, but with a lot of creativity, we can still generate income,” said Ensan who had previously worked as a beautician for ten years.
Besides facial services, the two sisters also offer salon, pedicure and manicure and sauna, eyebrow embroidery and eyelash extension services.
The services are exclusively by appointments.
“Being a beautician is not an easy task for us. Because the equipment is not cheap, we have to raise the prices of our services to cover our expenses,” she told the New Sarawak Tribune.
Ensan and Ensay open their business outlet only after they finish their work in their offices.
“We hope to open our own studio in the future to help those who need our beauty service.
“My words of advice to all small traders: you must be thick skinned in this industry.
” Do what you are passionate about. Treat your customers with respect.
“You must also be very disciplined and have good time management skills.
“Finally, you should never stop learning and you must keep up with the trends to stay relevant in the industry,” she remarked.
