MIRI: The government has given its approval for the construction of an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) kiosk in Bekenu, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
He added that there would be more discussions about the machine installation with the RHB Bank.
“The process of choosing a suitable location for the ATM is currently under way.
“Apart from RHB Bank, we will also discuss this matter with other banking institutions such as Agro Bank,” he said at the Amanah Iktiar Malaysia (AIM) Niah Branch Entrepreneur Award Night.
Tengah said this in response to a request made by the Kelab Usahawan Wanita Ikhtar Niah (Kuwin) chairwoman Norlela Omar about the proposed installation of an ATM kiosk in Bekenu.
At the event, Tengah also approved grants totaling RM100,000 to the AIM Niah Branch.
The grants were contributed by Awang Tengah, Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni, federal Deputy Minister of Rural Development Datuk Hasbi Habibollah, International Trade and Investment Ministry advisor Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Development I (Women and Childhood Development) Datuk Rosey Yunus as well as Deputy Minister of Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development II (Entrepreneur Development) Dr Ripin Lamat.
