TANJUNG MANIS: A variety of events and activities will be held in conjunction with the Belawai Festival 2017, organised by the Tanjung Manis District Office at the Belawai Beach April on 21 to 23.
Among the major events that will attract visitors include the Belawai Power Boat Race 2017, stage entertainment and Belawai kitchen.
Tanjung Manis District Officer, Udin Bujang said a total of six categories for the Belawai Power Boat Race 2017 event consists of six categories and is open to the public.
“Among the categories, are 50HP and below Tunnel Boat, 30HP 3 Cylinder Tunnel Boat, 8HP Tunnel Boat, 3HP boat, Waterpump Boat and Waterpump Ski will be held on 22 and 23 April.
“Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB) Sarikei Division will be holding this competition which is crucial during this festival,” he said while chairing the second meeting in preparation for the festival at the Conference Room, Tanjung Manis District Office recently.
“Among the activities proposed for stage entertainment were karaoke competition, live performances and busking bands, invitation artistes, Belawai pageant
competition, children’s fashion competition and fancy dress competitions.
“However, the details of all the stage entertainment activities have yet to be finalsed by the main committee,” he said.
Meanwhile, the SME Division, Ministry of Industrial Development Entrepreneurship Trade and Investment (MIETI) Sarawak was appointed for Sarawak Entrepreneurs Showcase Committee.
“In conjunction with the festival later, MIETI will hold the Sarawak Entrepreneur Showcase which is divided into two categories- SMI product (Product Small & Medium Enterprises) and Belawai Kitchen,” he said.
According to him, the inaugural Belawai Festival 2017 which serves a variety of events and activities is expected to attract thousands of visitors from outside from Tanjung Manis area to Kampung Belawai.
