KUCHING: Beluru district is now a Covid-19 red zone, said the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
It said the declaration was made after 42 new Covid-19 cases were registered in the district within 14 days.
“Meanwhile, Kanowit and Sri Aman districts both reverted to orange from red status after recording 36 and 40 cases respectively within the past 14 days.
“Asajaya district in Samarahan also turned orange from yellow status after 22 new cases were recorded within 14 days,” it said in its daily statement on Sunday (July 18).
SDMC said the number of red zones in the state is now at 20, followed by six orange zones, 11 yellow zones and three green zones.
The red status is attributed to areas of more than 40 cases, orange for 21 to 40 cases, yellow for one to 20 cases, and green when there are no cases recorded in 14 days.
Additionally, the committee said the State Health Department had also declared the end of two Covid-19 clusters in this district.
It said the clusters include the Jalan Usaha Jaya Cluster and the Tabuan Tranquility Cluster.
“No new cases were detected or reported involving these clusters within 28 days,” it explained.
SDMC said there are 90 active clusters currently located throughout the state.
“Of the total, no new cases were recorded in 87 clusters while 21 new cases were reported in the other three clusters,” it added.
