KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) yesterday handed over a contribution to the family of Muhammad Ariffin, the Bernama News Channel (BNC) cameraman who died of pneumonia on Dec 30. He was 62.
Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Azman Ujang handed over the donation amounting to RM5,550 to Muhammad’s second son, Faizal Muhammad, 30, who accepted it on behalf of his mother, Hatipah Manap, 57, as she is now residing in Taiping, Perak.
Also present were Bernama chief executive officer Nurini Kassim, editor-in-chief Datuk Zakaria Abdul Wahab and senior manager of human resources and administration Azeman Ariffin.
“The contribution is a gesture of Bernama’s appreciation for the services rendered by Muhammad during his 10-year tenure with the agency. We will also assist in the process of withdrawing the deceased’s Employees Provident Fund (EPF) savings,” said Azman during the presentation ceremony at Wisma Bernama here yesterday.
Meanwhile, Faizal said he was grateful to the Bernama management for showing their concern and providing assistance to his family after the death of his father. – Bernama
