MIRI: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Piasau branch chairman Sardon Zainal on Monday (Apr 12) thought that Datuk Dr Zuraida Kamaruddin of party Bersatu was confused when she said that her party would contest under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the coming state election.
“She misinterpreted or misunderstood the talk between Tupong assemblyman (PBB) Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman and Nurhanim Mohsen, the chairman of Pengerak Komuniti Negara (PKN) Sarawak, when she made the statement recently in Kuching,” he said.
Sardon, who is also a local councillor, said there was a meeting between Fazzruddin and Nurhanim, but they did not talk about allowing Bersatu to contest under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) ticket in the coming state election.
“They met, yes, and talked about infrastructural facilities, basic needs and social problems in Tupong area, that’s it.
“Fazzrudin never touched on allowing Bersatu to use GPS to contest in the next election. Zuraida’s statement is baseless,” he said.
“Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin himself had given assurance that Bersatu will not contest in Sarawak and the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari himself had never welcomed Bersatu to contest in the state. The aim is to maintain harmonious relationship between Perikatan Nasional (PN) and GPS at the central level.
Sardon also advised PBB members not to get confused by these statements.
“Any speculation or baseless comment without firm evidence will only confuse party members and the people,” he said.
