KABONG: Bersepai FC shocked Santana FC 2-1 in their opening match of Dr Haji Rosana Bolhassan Kabong Cup 2017 football tournament held at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Abang Leman Kabong field, last Saturday.
Prolific striker Materang Mohammad scored the winning goal in the 50th minute.
Bersepai FC led the match through an own goal by Santana’s defender on 32nd minute, before Santana FC fought back to draw 1-1 in the 40th minute.
Both teams played a balanced match where each team had equal chances to add goals.
“Thanks to all the players for securing the three points. It’s a relief for me when the players managed to create their early winning streak and we will continue the pace in the second leg,” said coach Abdul Gani, hoping that the excellent form of his players will continue.
“The key players of the team namely the state former President Cup players, Mohd Zulhilmi Omar and Materang Mohamad has brought pressure on Santana and I believe they are able to maintain their performance in the next game,” he added.
Bersepai FC will meet Perpat FC on May 5 (next Friday) at SK Abang Leman Kabong field.
