KUCHING: A total of 78 scout leaders received centenary commemorative certificates and ribbons in an award presentation ceremony held at SMK St. Augustine, Betong recently.

Leading the list of 14 recipients of the gold ribbon and certificate was Brit Martin Gana, District Commissioner of Betong.

This was followed by Azrul Azeem Selamat, Assistant District Commissioner, who was among the 16 recipients of the silver category.

The bronze category was presented to 48 recipients led by Ahmad Mustaqim Abdul Aziz, scout leader of the 42nd Betong Cub Pack.

Chief Scout Commissioner of Sarawak Zainuddin Hamdan said the scout movement is a skill-based training platform for youths.

“All recipients must continue doing their part in moulding the youths to be good citizens of Sarawak and Malaysia,” he said at the ceremony.

Earlier, Brit Martin Gana said the ceremony was timely to commemorate the 40th anniversary of scouting in Betong district.

Also present were Chairman of Betong District Scout Council Azmi Abdullah, Principal of SMK St Augustine Ujai Sambau and Betong Assistant District Education Officer Sebastian Lampun Sebang.
