Betong Welfare gives out 686 food packets

BETONG: Some 686 food packets have been distributed to 314 households or 1,260 flood victims in Betong Division.

Divisional Community Welfare officer Uwieng Gimos said the food packets comprising essential food items were distributed through the Betong Division Community Welfare office.

The food assistance had been distributed since Jan 16, he said in a telephone interview.

The affected households are those in low-lying areas in Saratok, Roban, Maludam, Semarang and Pusa.

He commended the members of the Defence Force of Malaysia (APM), personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) who had assisted in distributing the food aid to the affected households.

The cordial working relationship among the various government agencies in the division had facilitated efforts to assist the flood victims, he added.
