KUCHING: Brooke Holdings Sdn Bhd (BHSB) was awarded the fixed offshore structure works for F6 VLAP compression project by Sarawak Shell Berhad, with a contract value of more than RM400 million.
The exchange of contract documents for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the project between the two parties was held today.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was present to witness the document exchange during a ceremony at Hikmah Exchange Event Centre (HEEC).
In his speech, Abang Johari expressed his appreciation to Shell for offering the project to Brooke Holdings, which is a local fabricator.
“This is a testament of confidence in Brooke Holdings and I hope that with this project contract, it will enhance the technology and the way we implement the project which was offered to BSHB.
“This is the 15th project and I hope there will be more and beyond,” said Abang Johari.
Meanwhile, Shell Malaysia country chair and senior vice president (Upstream) Siti Hurrairah Sulaiman said prior to the F6-VLAP project, Shell has awarded 14 other projects to BHSB and today’s event, the F6-VLAP project marks the 15th project awarded to BSHB.
“This just goes to show how the partnership between Brooke and Shell has grown over a long period of time. It also demonstrates our confidence in a local fabricator. We are truly proud of the ‘Kamek Boleh’ spirit of Sarawakians.
“To the newly constituted Brooke Holdings, I look forward to attending the load out ceremony in the near future. Our hope is that this facility will be completed within cost, budget and importantly done in a safe manner,” she said.
She said Shell has managed to impart the transfer of knowledge and work expertise through strong partnership with Brooke.
“As a Sarawakian myself, I am very proud that we are working with a local fabricator once again. Our partnership with Brooke spans more than 30 years. They have grown their facilities and capability over the years. We are witnessing yet another project being built by fellow Sarawakians,” she added.
The F6-VLAP compression project contract was awarded to BHSB by Sarawak Shell Berhad on July 5, 2023.
The scope of works covers EPC of fixed offshore structure works for F6-VLAP project comprises of approximate 3,300 metric tonnes topside, 1,900 metric tonnes substructure and brownfield tie-in prefabrication and shiploose items with 20 months delivery period.
