KUCHING: The enforcement unit of the Land and Survey Department managed to foil an attempt to extract sand illegally at Sg Sebaok, Sematan near here at 12.30pm yesterday.
In the operation two units of heavy machinery used in the illegal sand extraction and a heap of sand were seized as evidence. The activity was detected through the department’s intelligence unit in place.
The case is being investigated under Section 32A of the State Land Code (Chp 81). Following the case, those intending to conduct any extraction activity are advised to refer to the nearest Land and Survey Department Office first before proceeding with the activity to avoid any action by the department’s enforcement unit.
