BINTANGOR: A bid to smuggle in 7,000 litres of diesel with a tanker truck was foiled by Sarikei Marine Police along Jalan Utama Bintangor on Sept 2.
Region 5 Marine Police commander ACP Zulfikar Mohd Ghazali, who confirmed the case, said the team noticed a tanker truck heading towards Bintangor and stopped it by the roadside for inspection.
“The team later discovered 7,000 litres of diesel in the tank.
“Aside from that, the truck driver was also arrested after failing to produce any valid documents from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP),” he said.
Zulfikar noted that the driver had committed an offense under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
Both the seizure and arrest have been handed over to KPDNHEP Sarikei branch for further action and investigation.
