KUCHING: The Bidayuh community mourns the loss of former Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) advisor Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said the community remembers Taib for his role in appointing the Bidayuhs to high positions.

“As the chief executive (of Sarawak) he shaped his policies to encompass the inclusion of all communities irrespective of race and religion.

“His politics of development is legendary. His legacy is felt all over Sarawak. He was instrumental in bringing the Bidayuh to positions of recognition and for that we are indeed very grateful.

“The Bidayuh community mourns the loss of a great leader and prays for his soul to rest in peace with the Almighty,” he said yesterday.

The Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister said Taib’s passing as a key figure in Sarawak’s political landscape, has left a sombre atmosphere in the region.

Sagah expressed gratitude for Taib’s contributions to the Bidayuh community and Sarawak as a whole. He also extended his deepest condolences to Taib’s family.
