KUCHING: Bidayuh villagers and village chiefs are encouraged to prepare their agriculture lots to expedite the ongoing land surveying process.

Tarat assemblyman Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn said perimeter surveying works will be carried out following the approval from the Land and Survey Department.

He said the villagers can also obtain consultation from the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) in cases of conflicting land claims.

“For those who have yet to prepare their agriculture lots, I advise them to do it soon.

“When they have land titles, they can use it to their advantages and improve their livelihood. Their names will be written on it and it cannot be changed,” he said when speaking at the handing over of Section 6 Sarawak Land Code Gazette and land titles under Section 18 for Serian Division at Balai Raya Kampung Sinjok, Siburan today.

He added that the state government is also prioritising traditional villages for its land surveying initiatives.

“With land titles, they can also apply for their Employees Provident Fund (EPF) or apply for bank loans to build houses, finance their children’s education and starting businesses,” he said.

Sagah also reminded dwellers here to hold back against selling their land once the titles are issued.

On the statewide land surveying activities, Sagah assured that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government would continue to fight for the people’s rights and interests.

“The GPS government wants the bumiputeras to have the titles to our land. They are giving us what is rightfully ours.

“However, the process of land surveying and documents will take a long time,” he said.
