BAU: The Gawai Dayak festival closing at Tasik Biru will be rotated among the four Bidayuh community zones in future celebrations.

Deputy Minister of Transport (Maritime and Riverine) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, who is the assemblyman for Tasik Biru, said there are four such zones in his constituency, namely Singai, Jagoi, Bratak, and Serumbu.

“Last year, the Gawai closing was held in Singai, and this year, Jagoi hosted the closing of Gawai.

“Next year, I will do it in Bratak. I am arranging this in rotation for my community. This is a community event organised by the village chief and community leaders,” he told the media at the Gawai Dayak closing ceremony at the Jagoi Serasot Multipurpose Hall, here on Sunday (June 30).

Henry added that such programmes are held as an appreciation for the contributions of the community in administration, socio-economic development, community leadership, politics, and administration in his area.

The programme, which started at noon, was also attended by Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Dr. Penguang Manggil, Bawang Assan assemblyman Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh, and Engkilili assemblyman Dr. Johnical Rayong Ngipa.
