Big bikers donate to Sri Aman fire victims

SRI AMAN: Fire victims of the two longhouses that were destroyed in the 22 March fire incident in Jungkong Atas, here continued to gain the attention of various parties here

One of these groups was the Sri Aman Big Bikers Club known as Simanggang Kayau Bikers (SKB) that recently donated 12 bags of 10kg rice for the 25 families involved.

Club president Ebit Seng when speaking to reporters recently pointed out that their contribution was the result of the generosity of their members in chipping in the donation.

Another individual who made donation was a benak surfer Jones Mackean who sympathised with their misery and felt duty-bound to contribute.

“Apart from indulging ourselves in our bike enthusiasm, we are also doing this as our social responsibility to help our fellow locals in Sri Aman who face problems such as this.

“As such when the fire incident brought immeasurable miseries to the two longhouses at Jungkong Atas, SKB has taken the initiative to pass the hat around for donations from our members to help these people,” he pointed out.

Ebit hoped other bodies and individuals in Sri Aman area will follow suit and contribute to these victims to relieve them of their miseries.

Also present during the donation handing over event was SKB Advisor Patrick Michael Malajin.

In the 2am 22 March fire incident, two longhouses built close to each other namely Langau Selumbung longhouse and Johnet Duyu longhouse were totally destroyed.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the fire was made under control fully by 4.36am whereas their operation to extinguish the fire ended at 9.15am.

Also involved in the operation to extinguish the fire were three police personnel from Lingga Police Station as well as members of the Civil Defence Force Malaysia (APM) here.
