KOTA SAMARAHAN: Faculties at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Kota Samarahan are urged to work with the Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) to produce Big Data related to population in Sarawak.

According to its rector Prof Datuk Dr Jamil Hamali, the Big Data is very important to be recorded in an easily accessible form.

“For example, if we want to know about the youth population in an area, like in Sarikei, we can get that information with just few clicks at our fingertips — meaning here, all the information related to the population we want to know is easily accessible wherever we are,” he pointed out at the ‘Coffee Table Talk: Empowering Youth Voice Through UPC’ closing ceremony at UiTM Samarahan Campus 2 here, yesterday.

He added that Big Data related to the population is also very useful to politicians and policy makers in the state as their reference to several things.

“It can also assist the authorities in managing their respective divisions and other areas of the state.
