Positive cases down to 419 yesterday from previous day’s 707
KUCHING: Sarawak today recorded a significant drop in new Covid-19 cases with 419 positive cases compared to 707 cases on Tuesday.
The new positive cases bring the total tally in the state to 53,000.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said that 294 cases or 70.17 percent of the total figure were detected in Kuching, Bintulu, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu districts.
Kuching recorded the highest number of cases at 124, followed by Bintulu (89), Sri Aman (28), Sibu (27), Lubok Antu (26), Subis (16), Miri (15), Kapit (13), Samarahan (12), Song and Asajaya (11 each) with Selangau and Matu each recording six cases.
There were four cases recorded in Bau and Tatau respectively, while Kanowit, Serian, Lawas, Tebedu and Sebauh each recorded three cases. Sarikei, Lundu, Meradong, Dalat and Beluru each has two new cases while Kabong and Bukit Mabong recorded one case each.
Of the 419 cases reported, 47 people had shown signs and experienced symptoms of the virus during screening.
The SDMC added that 462 patients had recovered and were allowed to be discharged from hospitals and Covid-19 low risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRCs) in the state today.
These brought the total number of Covid-19 positive cases that had recovered and been discharged to 43,363 or 81.82 percent of the total cases in the state to date.
Meanwhile, 9,191 people were still being treated and segregated in the PKRCs and hospital wards today.
There were also 419 new persons under investigation (PUI) reported in the state.
