LUNDU: The seventh edition of the Project of Dreams Realised (PRO-DR) education roadshow has begun its tour, organised by Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS).

Tanjong Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan said the largest education roadshow in the state will be making its tour for a month beginning in Lundu and ending in Lawas with more that 25 public and private education institutions, education and industrial funding agencies involved in the programme.

“Our main objective for this roadshow is to promote some of the major fields such as technical, vocational, and education training (TVET) and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education,” he said.

He added that apart from its initiative which is TEGAS Community in Innovative Learning (TCIL), another main objective of the tour is to assist students post Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) in continuing their studies besides conveying information on education opportunities, training and education assistance in Sarawak.

“I do agree with TEGAS that students who further their studies in technical and vocational streams will have much higher competitiveness and be able to improve their marketability as a graduate later.

“I urge all the students, specifically in this district to not miss this opportunity,”he said while officiating at the roadshow programme in Lundu community hall on Monday (Sept 12).

Azizul also said that this effort is in line with his aspiration to develop Tanjung Datu as a tourism hub.

“That being said, I have high hopes to see our district will have our own young innovators among our students so that they can contribute to the development of our area.

“Thus, making it a concrete component in the development of Sarawak’s digital economy,” he added.

In the meantime, senior manager of TEGAS community innovative learning Fredick Kevin Buseli added that apart from education exhibitions, TEGAS also collaborates with SOCSO to provide information on job opportunities to the youths who are currently looking for a career.
