The suspect is sitting on the floor after he was beaten by the public.

KUCHING: A local man was given a dose of street justice after he caught stealing a motorcycle on Wednesday evening.

The incident took place at around 6.00pm at a commercial centre at Jalan Tun Jugah when the owner of the motorcycle saw the suspect attempting to steal his motorcycle.

The man from Asajaya then shouted at the suspect and gave chase as the latter took off on foot. The chase ended when the suspect was caught and subsequently beaten up by several members of the public, who heard the commotion.

Police personnel rushed to the scene upon being notified of the incident and called for an ambulance to send the injured suspect to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a housewife lodged a police report after her brother ran amok outside her rented house on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at around 10.00am at Semariang Padi when the victim’s younger brother rammed her house fence with a motorcycle.

The victim claimed her brother had threatened to kill her and she did not know what caused the latter to run amok.
