SIBU: A 25-year-old man was sentenced to a year in prison today (Sept 13) for stealing a motorcycle from a police station’s exhibit store.

Magistrate Romario Jonoi convicted Chiw Kian Siong, from Jalan Sentosa, after he pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 379A of the Penal Code.

The incident occurred on July 31 at around 4 am.

According to the prosecution, Chiw had cut through the back fence of the Sungai Merah Police Station’s traffic exhibit store and stolen a red Yamaha motorcycle belonging to Jackson Wang King Kim.

On Sept 2, police arrested Chiw in Saratok and recovered the stolen motorcycle and other items from a longhouse in Roban.
