KUCHING: A man who tried to save his friend from a water-filled drain arrived too late as the friend had drowned.
Sloan Tinju,25, of Kampung Bunuk, Jalan Puncak Borneo was riding a motorcycle from his village to Teng Bukap at about 1.30pm on Monday when he was believed to have lost control of his motorcycle and plunged into a drain.
A friend who went looking out for Sloan found him at about 12.20am yesterday.
However, when the friend retrieved Sloan from the drain, he was already lifeless.
Nevertheless, the friend then used his car to take Sloan to Serian Hospital but when they arrived the hospital staff confirmed that Sloan has died.
Sarawak Head of Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, Supt Alexson Chabu Naga confirmed the case and said that it is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act, 1987.
