MUKAH: A motorcyclist died on the spot after his bike collided with a scavenger lorry in Kampung Kelaup at Jalan Tutus Ulu-Jebungan on Monday (Sept 7) night.
The victim was identified as 50-year-old Juntuan Lauting, from Kampung Jebungan here, while lorry driver, Louis Tedong Sawan, 24, from Rumah Isah, Mile 27, Jalan Oya, was not injured.
Mukah district police chief DSP Jimmy Panyau said prior to the incident which happened at about 11.50pm, the lorry was parked on the opposite lane as it collected rubbish in the area.
“A motorcycle coming from the opposite direction suddenly collided head-on with the stationary lorry,” he said in statement received via WhatsApp on Tuesday (Sept 8).
He added the victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by paramedics from Mukah Hospital. The body was taken to the mortuary for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act, 1987.
