MIRI: A 29 year-old man died when his motorcycle collided with a van at KM13 Jalan Miri- Bypass here this morning.
In the 8am incident, the victim, identified as Mohd Firdauz Abdullah, died at the accident spot.
According to Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, the impact of the accident caused the rider to be thrown off his motorcycle.
“Prior to the incident, the motorcycle ridden by the victim was coming from Taman Tunku heading towards Tudan while the van was coming from the opposite direction,” he said.
The crash occurred immediately after the van made a turn into the right junction and collided with the motorcyclist, Alexson pointed out.
His body was taken to Miri Hospital’s morgue for a post mortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
