KUCHING: A motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) after an accident at Jalan Rock here on Saturday.

The deceased identified as Stephenson Manggis Mathew Lium, 17, of Rumah Robert Lin, Kedap, Saratok, lost control of his motorcycle at 7.45am near a furniture showroom at Jalan Rock.

State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, said the accident is believed to have happened while Stephenson was going to Wisma Sarberkas.

“The rider is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle, skidded and crashed on the road shoulder,” he said when contacted yesterday.

The impact of the crash caused Stephenson to sustain serious body injuries.

The seriously injured Stephenson arrives at the Sarawak General Hospital.

Alexson added that Stephenson was rushed to Sarawak General Hospital in an EMRS vehicle for treatment but was pronounced dead at 9.52am.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, 1987.
