KUCHING: The purpose of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government tabling the Bills today was to improve Sarawak’s socioeconomic income, said Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu.
The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth Chief said the improvement is done by looking into industries that can be developed such as Rubber as well as Sago and Nipah.
“From our view, the establishment of the two statutory bodies can help to improve the livelihood of the people and see how much better we can do to increase our economy and the capabilities of Sarawakians.
“This is all for rakyat Sarawak,” he reiterated, adding that the Chief Minister is using modernised methods in approaching the matter.
He said this after the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting held at DUN Complex on Wednesday (Feb 16).
Adding on, he stated that what was raised by the oppositions about the youths not wanting to participate in the plantations or agricultural schemes is untrue as there are many youths who are successful (in the area).
“Nevertheless, the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development will look into that,” he said while commenting that the passing of Interpretation (Amendment) Bill, 2022 is important in the long run.
Meanwhile, echoing the statement given by Rentap, PBB Youth Deputy Chief Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman stressed that changing Chief Minister to Premier is consequential of Sarawak being recognised as one of the three partners forming Malaysia.
“After the recognition, there needs to be some differences with our partner in Peninsula. We are no longer on par with Melaka, and Pulau Pinang.
“That is why we have to put things rightfully in its place. Hence, we fully support changing the title to Premier.
“Of course our fight does not stop there. There are more initiatives that will be done by our Chief Minister to ensure that our rights can be restored,” he stated.
