Bintulu cops nab four men for drugs

Four men, including a foreigner, were arrested for drugs in Bintulu last Sunday.

BINTULU: Narcotics police arrested four men, including a foreigner, for allegedly engaging in substance abuse last Sunday (July 17).

Bintulu OCPD Supt Batholomew Umpit said the suspects, aged between 27 and 43, were arrested in Jalan Abang Galau and Jalan Tun Hussein Onn here.

One of the suspects will be investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 after police seized a plastic packet containing crystalline substance believed to be syabu weighing 5.2g.

The Section provides for a jail term of up to five years and whipping of up to nine lashes, if convicted.

All four suspects tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine and they will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
