Bintulu Health Department holds Mass Blood Survey

BINTULU: Bintulu Health Department will hold a Mass Blood Survey (MBS) as well as taking blood samples to check for Malaria parasite at Taman Bandar Jaya and Jalan Tun Hussien Onn begining on 12 to 15 December, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Epidemiologist from Bintulu Health Department Dr.Sharifah Binti Ahmad Shafie said the action was due to cases of fever caused by Malaria that took place on November 7, involving residents in the two areas. “The department will conduct the survey and taking of blood samples on the set dates and time,” she said in a press conference here, yesterday. According to her, the activity is neccessary in order to detect the presence of Malaria parasites in the blood. “We hope that during this activity the people in the area will cooperate,” she said. She also hoped residents would open their doors for the health teams, present their identity cards, birth certificates and passports and allow the health teams to take their blood samples. In the meantime, for further information, residents may contact the Bintulu Division Health Department at 086- 858200.
